The collection of Design Museum Den Bosch includes ceramics, jewellery and other design objects, and since 2017, through its ‘Posthuman’ sub-collection, has focused on everyday objects for the future. Each object in this sub-collection reveals a different aspect of how we, as a museum, view Posthuman: as design that replaces, decentralises or transcends our conventional modernist view of humanity (a ruler who uses design as an extension of their own hand).

The use of everyday objects

Design at Design Museum Den Bosch is about the relationship between people and the world around them. The objects we use shape the world and shape us. Use and interaction are key elements of design. Since 2024, we have been endeavouring to acquire everyday objects in duplicate for our collection. This allows visitors to touch and use one of these items. As a result, the stories we want to tell about social phenomena can be better understood.
