Jamie Reid

Visit time: 10 - 20 minutes

Jamie Reid (1947–2023) was a British designer, artist, and activist. Reid’s graphic design is inextricably linked to punk. He used his characteristic cut-and-paste design style for the world-famous album cover Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols (1977) and later also for Dead Kennedys and, in 2012, for Pussy Riot. Reid remained a figurehead of counterculture throughout his life. In his work, he spoke out against Margaret Thatcher’s policies and the war in Iraq, but also against the hypocrisy of some British artists. This exhibition is a collaboration with the Jamie Reid Archive at the John Marchant Gallery in Brighton.
